Asylum Chapel Wedding

Seeing as this lockdown is going to postpone wedding season and make next year’s one of the busiest, I thought I’d share Rebekah and Ben’s gorgeous wedding from last summer! The ceremony took place at the amazing Asylum Chapel and the reception at the unique Tanner Warehouse with a simple rustic theme they were going for! You can find all the suppliers information at the bottom of the post!

When I arrived Rebekah and her bridesmaids were all getting ready in gorgeous, personalised dressing gowns with 90’s classic music videos playing in the background – I highly recommend. You just can’t go wrong with a throwback; my guilty pleasures playlist is definitely my most played (after Taylor Swift of course).

I just LOVE photographing you getting ready – sounds a bit pervy, I absolutely don’t mean it like that. But it’s a lovely opportunity to sink into the day, try out different angles and basically become a complimentary bridesmaid. I love fading into the background, while you and your tribe do your thing! It helps you get used to having me around.

Usually during a wedding day I don’t tend to see many of the guests arrive as I’m usually with the Bride or Groom while they finish up getting ready – putting their dress and veil/suit on and first look photos etc. But Rebekah wanted photos of their guests arriving and I was so happy to oblige. It also
gave me an extra window to capture Ben with his family.

The Asylum Chapel is such a beautiful venue. If you’re planning a rustic boho wedding you’ve probably already seen it, or you’re looking into it. It gives real Ross and Emily wedding venue vibes – don’t worry, in this one they say the right name! The stained glass windows are insane – I swear it
doesn’t need decorating. But that means you can keep it REALLY simple. Rebekah and Ben had candles and 2 gorgeous bouquets at the front. It made such a gorgeous back drop for the ceremony, as well as rose petals down the aisle!

Rebekah and Ben’s ceremony was SO lovely – short, sweet and funny. The only hiccup, that Rebekah can laugh at now, is her veil got caught as she entered the back of the venue. I don’t think any of her guests noticed, it was unhooked instantly. The registrar did a lovely personalised ceremony complete with personality and jokes.

Post ceremony Rebekah and Ben treated their guests to a gin and tonic from the Travelling Gin Company (they sell them from a bicycle!!) while we took some photos behind the venue. It was drizzling but we didn’t let that ruin their photos, the venue lent us an umbrella after seeing Ben’s poor, but cute attempt at keeping Rebekah’s hair dry.

Fortunately, it dried up for just enough time to get the confetti photos (my favourite!!) and a photo of everyone. Before it started raining again and we had to retreat inside for the group photos.

Tanner warehouse is a rustic warehouse venue, absolutely gorgeous and only a stones throw away from London Bridge! The food is amazing and you can personalise the room as much as you like, but again it doesn’t need much. Fairy lights and coloured lighting and it’s golden! As you can see here!!

There wasn’t a dry eye in the room during these speeches! They were all fabulous! A perfect mix of funny mixed with love. I don’t normally shed tears at weddings but these really hit me in the feels! They were beautiful!

Rebekah and Ben’s DJ played a massive range of music, the dancefloor was never empty! He played the Macarena! Now it’s essential that if I’m photographing your wedding, the Macarena or Saturday night or Cheeky girls needs to be played! They also played Shake it off so I may or may not have put the camera down for that one!

Here are some words from the lovely couple!

What can we say?! You were absolutely spectacular and we couldn’t have asked for more from you on our special day!! You were so kind with our guests and were the absolute dream. Not to mention you’re so unbelievably talented and your pictures are amazing! You knew exactly what we wanted from our day. Anyone would be lucky to have you photograph their wedding. Thank you!! xx
